Pet Peeves Provides Grants Supporting
Long Island’s Needy Animals
Over $65,000 in Grants to be distributed at
March 3rd Annual Celebration
Long Island, NY – January 14, 2010 - Pet Peeves, “the voice of Long Island pets,” is pleased to announce that it is awarding more than $65,000 in grants – funds earmarked to support Long Island’s abused, neglected and homeless animals and provide relief for local families that cannot afford to feed or care for their pets.
The grants will be distributed at Pet Peeves’ annual signature event, “Unleashed,” a cool, lounge-inspired evening of martinis, tapas and grand raffles - with all proceeds going to the support of Long Island’s pets. The “Unleashed” themed fundraising and networking gala, set for Wednesday, March 3rd at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury from 6:00 to 10:00 pm, will bring together animal lovers from across Long Island. This year’s event is more critical than ever to the support of no-kill shelters and rescue groups that Pet Peeves helps fund, as many more animals face homelessness due to the financial hardship of their owners.
The 2010 premier sponsor is The Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Cares Foundation, an organization that oversees the main philanthropic and volunteering activities of their residential brokers and employees.
“With the generous funding we have received from individual and corporate sponsors like Joe Mamone, President of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage of LI and Queens, and the efforts we have realized from our loyal volunteer base, Pet Peeves is able to support important Long Island-based non-profit programs that not only address pets in need, but families in need as well. By supporting safe haven types of programs that temporarily feed and care for the pets of people who have lost jobs or homes, we are able to provide a real solution for animals and their owners who are suffering as a result of the current economic situation,” said Janine Dion, founder and president of Pet Peeves.
Proceeds from “Unleashed” will allow Pet Peeves to continue these grants throughout the year. To raise support and awareness for these efforts, Pet Peeves’ will provide a spectacular array of raffle prizes and live auction items as part of their evening festivities. Included in the price of a $100 ticket, attendees will enjoy a sumptuous buffet dinner and exotic “Unleashed” themed cocktails, followed by a wide selection of delectable desserts. Tickets may be purchased online at www.petpeeves.org or by calling and asking for the Pet Peeves office at (516) 692.8000.
