Woodbury, NY – September 9, 2005 – Pet Peeves, one of Long Island’s foremost animal protection organizations, has responded to the voiceless victims of Katrina’s wrath; the homeless and neglected animals in the hurricane-ravaged Gulf Coast. They will donate $5,000 to Noah’s Wish, a not for profit organization that works exclusively to rescue and shelter animals in disasters.
Terry Crisp, Founder and Director of Noah’s Wish expressed her gratitude. “We would like to thank Pet Peeves for their generous donation which will support our rescue operation in Slidell, LA. This donation will assist us in providing temporary shelter, medical care, and much needed love and affection to hundreds of pets traumatized by Hurricane Katrina,” she stated.
Pet Peeves Board of Directors’ member Sharon G. Grosser explained, “It became clear to us that, though the focus of our animal protection efforts has been Long Island, this hurricane has proven to be a disaster of epic proportions, affecting the entire nation. We wanted to do something to help, so we made the unanimous decision to allocate funds to Noah’s Wish immediately.” Ms. Grosser is the Executive Director of the Roslyn Savings Foundation, a leading sponsor of the Pet Peeves’ 2005 gala “Furry Tails….Can Come True III” to be held at the Crest Hollow Country Club on September 20th at 6:30 PM.
The event is the major fundraiser of the year. Because of the generosity of individual and corporate donors and sponsors, Pet Peeves has been able to make considerable monetary contributions in the form of grants to Nassau and Suffolk animal rescue/shelter organizations since its inception. This year’s recipients include The Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, Kent Animal Shelter, Last Hope Rescue, the Pig Placement Network, the Animal Lovers League, and Rocky’s Fund Dog Rescue.
Janine Dion, president of Pet Peeves, founded the organization to unite committed Long Islanders who want to make a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable among us. The Pet Peeves team includes professionals, corporations, veterinarians, students and volunteers from all walks of life who share one common emotion; compassion for all living creatures. They welcome contributions, which can be made on their website www.petpeevesinc.org or mailed to: Pet Peeves, 8325 Jericho Tpk. Woodbury, NY 11797.
