Nora is a special girl, said her rescuers from For Our Friends. She is a 7 year-old Border Collie / Black Lab mix that was found as a stray in Franklin Square. When For Our Friends had Nora spayed, it was discovered that she had mammary cancer.

There are times when people find the world caving in around them and things getting worse by the minute. Pip’s guardian, a young man of 35, was dying of AIDS. To make matters worse, he could no longer take care of Pip, his beloved companion of 12 years.

Patty the Pug’s human parent’s were elderly and ill health forced them to call on the Animal Lovers League for help. Patty had a few issues to work on before she was ready for adoption. Her elderly owners had never been able to properly housebreak her and she had not been spayed either. The group soon learned that you certainly can teach an “older” dog new tricks!

Maya the kitty somehow found her way through a hole in her pet guardian’s home and disappeared for a week. Frantic calls to the shelter for instructions on how to set the humane trap The Animal Lovers League loaned them, netted one very weak kitty who staggered when she walked after finally being caught.
